Smile Initiative was born from the quiet strength of resilience and the transformative power of a single act of kindness. Our founder, Linda Ikomi, understands the weight of distress because she has walked that path herself. Years ago, while navigating her own season of profound hardship as a first time mum, Linda experienced an unexpected moment of compassion from a complete stranger. That encounter didn't just provide immediate relief; it planted a seed of hope that would eventually grow into this organization.

After suffering 3 major miscarriages, Linda realized that while motherhood is often described as a beautiful journey, it can also be a time of overwhelming isolation, especially when facing postpartum struggles, single motherhood, or grief. She envisioned a space where no mother would have to face these challenges alone—a sanctuary where vulnerability is met with empathy, and distress is answered with love. Today, Smile Initiative stands as that safety net, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ensuring every mother feels seen, supported, and cherished.

Our programs, from the Baby Blessing Bags to the Widows Corner Emotional Wellness Program, are all extensions of that original strangers kindness.
